Dental Makeovers (Advanced Treatment Planning of Complex Dental Cases)
In addition to analyzing smiles for cosmetic enhancements (see cosmetic smile analysis), Dr. Thomas also works closely with your dentist to treatment plan complex dental cases (also called full mouth rehabilitations). This is done in a very careful and methodical manner to ensure predictable functional and cosmetic results. The most important component to developing a complex treatment plan is gathering all of the necessary information before any treatment is initiated. This way, we can achieve very reliable results.
The information gathering begins with a detailed health history and clinical examination. In addition, we will obtain mounted models of your teeth on an articulator (a device which exactly reproduces your existing bite), digital radiographs, digital photographs, and possibly an i-CAT cone beam computed tomography CAT scan (if needed, this provides precise three dimensional information of your teeth and jaws). Please read more about our in-office i-CAT scanner.
Once we gather this information, we will study your smile and then meet with your dentist to develop treatment options to restore your mouth to where it once was – possibly even better. We will then set aside an appointment to show you our findings and explain your treatment options. This detailed analysis allows us, and your dentist, to provide predictable results in the restoration of your smile.
The photographs below illustrate a case which involved minor orthodontic tooth movement, cosmetic crown lengthening and restorations by the patients’ dentist. The resulting interdisciplinary teamwork, between the periodontist, orthodontist and restorative dentist made this case a real success!
