Courses Offered In-Office
We offer a variety of courses to local dental team members on-site. We are committed to facilitating the individual growth and education of all dental team members in Eastern, NC. We have also aligned ourselves with North Carolina’s Eastern division of AHEC (Area Health Education Center(s)). With this alliance we are able to offer much needed continuing education and certification courses for North Carolina’s dental professionals, especially the dental staff.
Specifically, on a frequent basis, we offer, and contribute to the teaching of a Dental Radiology Course. This course teaches the safe practices of dental radiology (x-rays) to dental assistants all across the area. In addition, the course helps develop the skills required to take quality diagnostic images which aid the doctor in early detection of many oral diseases. We also offer a course entitled “Coronal Polishing”.
We also offer annual CPR training and recertification for our dental team members. The North Carolina Dental Board requires that individuals working in a health care setting which offers intra-venous sedation be recertified annually in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Heart Association Guidelines. This makes for a safer environment for our patients regardless of the type of care that is being delivered.
We also offer annual training to our dental team members for HIPAA. HIPAA, which stands for the American Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Acot of 1996, is a set of rules to be followed by doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers. HIPAA helps ensure that all medical/dental records, medical/dental billing, and patient accounts meet certain consistent standards with regard to documentation, handling, and privacy. We are very sensitive to the handling of all of our patients protected health information and take all of the necessary steps to protect your information. We have a HIPAA officer who is responsible for monitoring and annual training of all HIPAA related policies.
